🎸 Michel Haumont
Master of French Acoustic Guitar

Michel Haumont, master of French acoustic guitar
🌅 The Awakening
It was in the midst of the folk movement effervescence in 1974 that Michel Haumont, then aged 17, recorded his first record, fruit of the hootenannies of the American Center and the folk club he animated in his high school.
Four other albums would follow, until 1983, revealing to the public a singular talent as acoustic guitarist. L'Olympia, with John Renbourn and Planxty, consecrated this atypical young French composer who simultaneously published his guitar method.
A year spent across the Channel with his accomplice Jack Ada allowed him to perform about forty concerts in the company of Ralph McTell.
🎯 The Maturation
Michel Haumont, seasoned creator, diversifies his activities. For a Thierry Mugler fashion show, he composes the Valse du Zénith.
He accompanies on record or on stage Philippe Chatel, Gilbert Lafaille, Véronique Rivière, Julien Clerc, François Lalanne, Patrick Bruel, Marie-José Vilar, Georges Moustaki, Pierre Barouh...
Michel is now recognized as one of the best French specialists of acoustic guitar.
Tours take him to Japan, Canada, Poland, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Madagascar, etc.
🎹 The Accomplishment
🎛️ Technological Innovation
More personally, a journey into MIDI computer systems opens new sonic horizons to the young composer. This experience will mark him profoundly, leading him to become an arranger for many artists including Philippe Chatel, Gilbert Lafaille, or Leny Escudero.
🏆 Return to the Roots
💿 Album "Hall of Fame"
With his latest album "Hall of Fame", produced by Jean-Jacques Milteau, Michel Haumont has not only returned to a certain stripping down: He testifies to an era and honors his origins.
🎸 Tribute to the Masters
Renbourn, Dadi, Watson, Travis, Atkins, Reed... The musician pays tribute to these mythical virtuosos of picking guitar.
Largely inspired by the North American folk repertoire, "Hall of Fame", released in 1998, recreates the live sound, very popular in the 60s and 70s among these folk guitarists and welcomes, around Michel, Jack Ada, Manu Galvin, Jean-Jacques Milteau and Danny Vriet.
